Double award win for DTW at CIPR awards

They say you should never start with an apology, but I’m going to do it anyway. Sorry.

Why? It’s a bit self-indulgent this post – it’s about DTW winning awards.

Our team picked up two hard-won silver awards at the CIPR North East Pride awards this weekend.

They were good ones too – Best use of media relations for our work with Road Safety GB North East – and (and we are a bit pleased with this one) for Outstanding consultancy.

Best use of media relations

The media relations award was for a mini-campaign we ran at the start of 2016 to kick-start a two year series of targeted road safety initiatives across the north east. We had a case study of a brave young girl – Emily – from Middlesbrough.

Emily and her dad Phil agreed to support the campaign. A couple of years previous, she had narrowly escaped serious injury after getting off the school bus and running into the path of a car. The CCTV footage is chilling.

The campaign had a total combined media reach of 8.2m, through printand broadcast media alone.

The PR package we put out, with figures, CCTV footage and case study, resulted in blanket print and website coverage across the region, as well as national coverage in The Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, The Sun and Daily Star.

The national coverage led to BBC1 daytime show Close Calls: On Camera requesting to feature Emily and the campaign and it featured heavily across regional media with the CCTV footage making a real impact on social channels.

Outstanding consultancy

Great team, really pleased for everyone that we got the recognition. As part of the submission we had to give a brief statement on what makes us special – so here goes….

We’re proud the work we do supports organisations that are improving people’s lives and working with their local or professional communities. We back this up with our own volunteering activities – whether that is through professional bodies like the CIPR or CIM, engaging with students at local universities or supporting staff through giving them time to deliver their own fund-raising and charitable activity.

Our team is full of passionate and committed advocates for our clients who go the extra mile to deliver.

Doing great work that delivers real results and outcomes is the day job. What makes it really special is having a team of people that does it with real passion and conviction (and can party with the best of them when we get the chance).

Thanks for reading

Chris

PS – a huge thanks to all the CIPR North East committee and the CIPR events team who put a LOT of hard work into organising these awards every year (I know, I’ve been there and done that as a regional committee Chair for 3 years).
